Chelsea “joins the race for Adam Wharton of Blackburn Rovers.”

Chelsea is allegedly interested in signing Adam Wharton, a midfielder for Blackburn Rovers.

The 19-year-old’s future is presently the subject of much conjecture, with many Premier League teams reportedly eager to recruit him before the January transfer window closes.

In the latter phases of the winter market, Crystal Palace is said to be demonstrating a great interest in the adolescent, who has been strongly connected to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Sun claims that Chelsea is now a serious contender after sports director Paul Winstanley of the London team saw the midfielder in action last week.

The Premier League team reportedly took notice of Wharton after his performance in the EFL Cup against Chelsea in November of last year.

According to reports, Chelsea may try to sign the young player before Thursday’s deadline and then allow him to finish the season on loan at Blackburn.

With Rovers seeking to pay almost £25 million for the midfield player, Palace is said to have had their proposal of £18.5 million rejected.

With 33 points from 28 games, Blackburn is now eight points above the relegation zone in the championship standings. They are ranked 18th.

Wharton has “Champions League” calibre on the ball, according to remarks made by Rovers head coach Jon Dahl Tomasson last week.

“You are aware of my thoughts on Adam. “I noticed his talent right away when he was a boy when I first came here, and it’s great to watch him grow every season,” Tomasson told reporters.

Although he is not yet the full product, he is a Champions League player, and having trained and played there, I am aware of what is required. At the same time, he has undoubtedly grown significantly.”

This summer, Chelsea is anticipated to be looking for a new center-forward, and the team is probably going to be vying for Victor Osimhen of Napoli.

With Wharton having signed a new long-term contract in December that runs through June 2028, the Championship club is well-positioned in regards to his future.

Throughout the 2023–24 season, Wharton has been a key member of Blackburn’s squad, making 29 appearances across all competitions, tallying three assists, and tallying two goals.
