Shkodran Mustafi rejected Arsenal new contract during the summer.

The 28-year-old’s present deal terminates one year from now, implying that he will be free to discuss a switch to foreign clubs from January.

football.london reports that Mustafi was offered a contract extension during the recent transfer window, yet turned it down and informed the Gunners that he is quick to leave when his present deal runs out.

The center-back is thought to support a move to Serie A so as to be nearer to his wife’s Albanian-Swiss family, who live in Switzerland.

Mustafi has shown up for Arsenal so far this season, getting back from a knee injury as a second-half sub in Sunday’s 1-0 home defeat to Leicester City.

The German international had recently worked his way back into the first team under Mikel Arteta, starting 15 of 17 games last season before getting a knee injury.

Mustafi joined Arsenal for around £35m in 2016 and has proceeded to show up 143 appearances for the club.
